Eagles Class (Year 5/6)

Welcome to Eagles Class, where we have 25 Year 5 and 6 pupils this year.  Eagles are taught by Mrs Hursthouse on Mondays to Wednesdays and Miss Freeman on Thursdays and Fridays. Miss Freeman is currently covering the maternity leave of our other Eagles teacher, Mrs Wilkinson.. These teachers work alongside teaching assistants Mrs Whittles and Mrs Holt.

Learning in Eagles class is very child-led wherever possible, encouraging a pertinent and creative curriculum tailored to the interests of the pupils, whilst ensuring we work hard to fly through our Year 6 SATs! We are preparing our fledglings to fly the nest to high school and, as our eldest members of the school, Eagles are encouraged to  take responsibility and lead a wide range of activities and roles within our school, from chairing the School Council, to running the playground 'Buddy' scheme and leading Christian value and Whoosh Assemblies.

Weekly news

Posted 9/7/2016

On Monday, we are heading off to Cobbler's Lane Primary school in Pontefract for an 'art' day. We are all looking forward to the day out and meeting up with our friends from Cobbler's lane. All children will need a packed lunch bringing to school that day.  We will be leaving and returning within school hours so usual registration times apply please. We ask that children come in usual school uniform and school shoes.

As we are approaching the end of term, we are winding down the homework with just learning logs for the next couple of weeks hoping children can start to relax into post-sats summer mode. All we need now is the weather!

Dates for diary in Eagles class - Leaver's play LIGHTS CAMERA ACTION will be at 1.45pm on Thursday 21st July in the school hall.

Leaver's Night out will be on FRI 15th at Xscape. Details will be attached to the Newsletter for more information.

Headingley Trip

Posted 18/6/2016

Next week we will be taking Eagles too Headingley Stadium for the cricket education day. Just a reminder that the bus will be leaving at 8.15am prompt for Headingley, so we ask that all children are in the classroom no later than 8.10am for registration and a prompt departure. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch in a disposable bag with a disposable bottle of water. Children should come dressed in tracksuit bottoms and school PE shorts and t-shirt with a PE hoodie or suitable jumper. We hope to depart Leeds at 3.15pm in order to return to school for 4.15pm where children can be collected. Please keep your eye on text updates, as the traffic out of Leeds can be unpredictable at that time.

We are also keeping our fingers crossed for dry weather for teddy Bears picnic and Sports Day on Tuesday PM.

In English next week, we will continuing our mini-sagas, in order to create some stop animation movies and applying this week's maths work on angles and shape in Mondrian artwork. Year 6 will also be squeezing in more rehearsal time for their Leavers' Play...trailer will be coming soon to a website near you!!!
