A letter has now been sent home with our Y6 pupils regarding applying for a secondary school place. A copy of the letter can be found here.


If your child is due to start in Reception class from September 2019, please see the letter here regarding your application.


Christmas card designs have now been sent home with details for ordering online. The deadline for these is Sunday 21st October, and we require the original artwork back by Monday 22nd October.









After school clubs and sessions 

Kirk Smeaton provides an after school activity club each day from 3.30-6pm.  The club is run by Mrs Humphrey's who is an experienced and highly qualified play leader.  The sessions are based in the Starfish classroom and outdoor area.  Children are provided with a range of activities including arts and crafts, outside play, homework support, reading, topic research and computer work.  A sandwich and drink are provided

In addition to the after school activity session, we have external providers who run sessions each evening between 3.30-5.30.  Please see below for a list of activities and their contact details.  All these sessions must be booked through the external provider.

Children will be allocated a place on a first-come, first-served basis.


Creative Dance- this is a fun, relaxed, creative class where children are introduced to all types of dance styles and music with a mixture of themes. The children will gain in confidence as they explore movement and choreography, working together as a team to create performance pieces. This club is suitable for all ages.

Art For All- children will get the opportunity to explore all types of art and crafts from painting, colouring, sticking, cardboard building, sequin art, origami etc..

Sessions will be age appropriate; Younger children will develop greater hand eye co-ordination and dexterity through using scissors, pencils, crayons and paints. Older children will have the opportunity to learn about texture, colour blending and perspective through varied mediums in a relaxed informal environment. This club is suitable for all ages.

Street Dance- this is a highly energetic class which is very popular with both boys and girls. Children will learn how to warm up their bodies and stretch in a safe way through a repetitive warm up routine to their favourite pop tunes. They have the opportunity to learn some simple floor work break dance moves and perform a brand new dance routine every term. This club is suitable for Year 2 – 6 children.

Art for all - lots of painting and drawing with friends. 

Rugby- a great energetic session where children learn the discipline of sport.  We play lots of games to develop rugby skills and at the end of the sessions have a great session of touch rugby. 

Forest schools- an activity session in the Kirk Smeaton woods, the children learn how to make fire, build dens and shelters and a range of other bush craft.  Waterproofs and walking boots are needed for this session.
